Product Description

Polycell Polyfilla Decorators Caulk is a flexible permanent acrylic sealant specially formulated for internal and external use in areas subject to movement. It is suitable for sealing around architraves and cornices, sealing cracks between skirting boards and walls, pointing around window and doorframes and filling cracked plaster. It gives a smooth finish that does not require sanding.

Application Description

Using the skeleton gun, apply the caulk to the area under repair, ensuring that it makes full contact with the sides and back of the joint and is slightly proud of the surface to allow for shrinkage as it dries. The area to be filled should be no more than 20mm wide and 12mm deep. For larger holes, partially fill using Polyfilla Expanding Foam Filler before applying Caulk. Wipe off excess material with a damp cloth. Any smoothing should be carried out as soon as possible. Polyfilla Decorators Caulk should not be applied in wet or damp conditions or in temperatures less than 5degrees. Do not use below ground level, in areas of high abrasion or in contact with bituminous material.

Tips & Advice

  • 1. Preparing the Surfaces
To get the best results make sure surfaces are clean dry and free from any loose or powdery material, standing water or contaminants which may otherwise impair the bond. Metal surfaces should be primed and painted.
External applications should not be attempted where rain is imminent. If conditions are suitable, ensure that joints are properly prepared, and apply sealant firmly to the joint using the application gun. Ensure a good solid fill is achieved. Once applied, sealant can be tooled to the required finish. A degree of natural shrinkage will occur upon drying so it is advisable to apply the sealant slightly proud of the required level to allow for this.
