Simon Thompson remarkably first considered a role as an undertaker and then a joiner before finally settling on painting and decorating. This decision saw him to enrol as an apprentice in 1995 with a decorator he later went into partnership with.

It was this partner, a Dulux Select Decorator himself, who introduced Simon to the Scheme and it has continued to benefit Simon ever since. He believes "having the Dulux logo on my van and stationery is a great credit to myself and my business; they provide a great service with the help and backing I need. They support me profoundly". He also credits the Scheme with introducing him to "some great friends along the way".

Simon started his own business, Thompson Décor, in 2013 and this has allowed him to pursue his real passion of wallpapering. It was this passion and meeting Paul Feather, the founder of Vista Digital, at a Decorating show that led to Simon becoming highly involved with digital murals as a Vista Digital registered installer.

Vista Digital produce digital murals including bespoke OnePiece wall murals that are supplied in one continuous piece, allowing you to create the most detailed of images. These versatile products are ideal for a variety of environments ranging from domestic to high traffic commercial areas.

It is the OnePiece murals that Simon enjoys working with the most as "the challenge of only having 1 shot of making the murals perfect" is something he thrives on. The bespoke nature of these products also means Simon often has the opportunity to get involved with the initial design and this was the case on a recent mural installed in his Local Royal British Legion Club, a project he's particularly proud of. Simon explained how, with the help of the in-house graphic designers he "produced a local picture of Pendle Hill and inserted a poppy field and also the unnamed soldier up our local cenotaph."
