The Dulux Trade Colour & Contrast Design Guide

When we talk about using colour and contrast to maximum effect, we're not simply talking about how a space looks - it can radically improve a user's experience too. Harnessing the power of colour can be used to enhance spatial awareness and navigation through a space, particularly for those with visual impairments. Creating a design where the colours of critical surfaces have a Light Reflective Value (LRV) difference of 30 points or more can aid in the identification of key building features and contribute to safety.

Our Colour & Contrast Digital Design Guide is designed to help specifiers maximise the inclusivity and usability of a space quickly and easily, so that their schemes not only look aesthetically pleasing, but also comply to the visual contrast guidelines set out in the Equality Act.

Through the program users can virtually paint a variety of room sets (from learning environments to corporate work spaces), either using pre-designed schemes or creating new ones, and the program will flag which colour choices and positioning adhere to Equality Act best practice. The resulting schemes can then be saved, shared with clients or printed for reference.
