Design and decorating service PA Schofield cooks up a storm with restaurant revamp

Dining in Style

PA Schofield has been transforming commercial, retail and leisure spaces for over 20 years. Based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, the company has established a solid reputation nationwide as one of the leading contractors, covering all aspects of internal and external painting and decorating, specialist techniques and restoration. Clients include Gordon Ramsay Group, Virgin Kensington Roof Top Gardens, Pizza Express, Café Rouge, Bella Italia, Lords cricket stadium, Butlins, Famous London theatres and many more.

Having worked with this particular client for over 19 years, former public house The Vine Tree in Wakefield re-named Capri @The Vine was awarded to PA Schofield Ltd the design and decorating contract for its renovation works. The premises was to be redeveloped into an Italian restaurant, a Sky bar with terraces and and an industrial-themed bar.

One of the challenges of the project was the quick turnaround of the design work, as PA Schofield Ltd completely redesigned the plans for the space after the original plans by a different design company fell through. This included the Interior layout, furniture and fixtures specification, ceiling and wall specification, flooring, lighting and WC toilet specification.

From design to completion, the project took around 20 weeks, with the decorating works spanning four weeks. In total, the space covered 820 square meters, with the design incorporating an array of decorative techniques, including French polishing, specialist decorative paint effects, signwriting and full external decorating.

To execute the scheme, PA Schofield Ltd used a variety of Dulux Trade products. Dulux Trade Vinyl Matt was used for the function room and bathroom ceilings, which were layered up to create paint effects. Dulux Trade Metalshield Satin was used as a base coat for the aged metal paint effects, used to create the industrial look in the bar. All painted walls were decorated with durable Dulux Trade Diamond Matt emulsion thanks to its innovative Stain Repellant Technology, currently not found in any other durable paint range on the market. Dulux Trade Diamond Eggshell was used as the base coat for paint effects, the kitchen ceiling, dado panelling and signwriting. Finally, Dulux Trade Diamond Glaze was applied to the paint for extra protection, helping to ensure the spaces stay looking good for even longer and reducing maintenance cycles.

"We have used Dulux Trade and Dulux Decorator Centres for over 20 years; we know the quality of the products and that's why we specified and used these products," explains Managing Director Paul Schofield.
