Debenhams visits the Dulux Academy

The British multinational retailer, Debenhams, recently sent 40 members of its Creative and Creative Operations team to Dulux Academy. The training undertaken provided them with a comprehensive and hands on understanding of surface preparation, best practice application and the colour theory to help create a visually striking window display.

Formally launched in March 2016, Dulux Academy is the UK's first dedicated facility for professionals in the domestic and commercial decoration industry. The Academy offers a range of courses designed to help decorators and apprentices to upskill and develop their businesses as well as hone their design knowledge.

The bespoke session was specifically tailored to Debenhams' exact requirements. Our team of leading industry experts delivered a theory based and practical learning experience that would help the Creative and Creative operations team enhance every stage of the window design process - from concept to installation.

The day included interactive demonstrations on surface preparation and best practice as well as seminars on colour theory. These sessions took place in our classroom-style rooms where the Debenhams team were encouraged to share creative ideas and take part in practical activities that consolidated all they had learnt.

Today has proved vital in enhancing the training of every level of our team and has helped us to understand and start to overcome issues that we sometimes face from design to installation. This initial training will help us streamline our window display process and our new schemes will shortly be rolled out across every Debenhams store in the UK.
