The Armstead Allies teamed up with Volunteer It Yourself and On The Tools for their first project – helping a group of young people transform Nottinghamshire Clubs for Young People.
The Allies included Mike Cupit author of Decorators Forum UK, Nathan Carter and his apprentice Kieran O’Neill from Nice Decor, Seán Kelly from Seán Kelly Enterprises Ltd (who is also a Dulux Select Decorator!), and Billy Flynn from Flynn & Co.
With over 70 years’ painting and decorating experience between them, they were the perfect mentors for the job. The perfect paint for the job? It had to be Armstead Trade Durable Matt, due to its reliable performance in high traffic areas. The water-based product is hardwearing and easy to apply.

On the day, and with the guidance of the Allies, the 10 young volunteers took part in practical learning, gained a sense of achievement, and got a taste of what a career in painting and decorating is like.
Mike Cupit, Decorator’s Forum UK: “It was a privilege to be involved with the Armstead Allies. If you’re a decorator reading this, I urge you to reach out to Armstead to hear how you can get involved with their next project. Also, have a look at what VIY is doing, because if you can help in any way, you will make a massive difference to someone’s life.”

We're looking for professional decorators to get involved with community decorating projects. There's also a chance you'll star in our future brand videos, take part in product trials and see your own work championed!
If you’re a fan of our reliable paints and the above sounds like your cup of tea, we’d love to hear from you.
