We do this by transforming communities through painting projects, offering products and services that care about people’s health and creating opportunities for the next generation to unlock their potential.

Keeping our employees safe and enabling them to thrive

Safety is in our DNA: we believe that nothing we do is worth getting hurt for, and that work-related injuries and illnesses can be prevented.

We follow the principles of behaviour-based safety (BBS), applying the science of human behaviour to industrial safety - focused on what people do and why they do it with an intervention strategy to improve outcomes.

As a business we believe that if we all look after our wellbeing and build our resilience, together we can be at our best. Happy, fit and healthy people are more likely to enjoy their work, be engaged and remain loyal. Therefore, we have established our Thrive initiative, offering support and benefits to promote health and wellbeing at work.

Inspiring and supporting the next generation

AkzoNobel Decorative Paints UK & Ireland is firmly committed to inspiring and unlocking the potential of the next generation, working with some great organisations both here, in the UK & Ireland, as well as further afield.

  • The Outward-Bound Trust

Since 2004, our main charity partner has been The Outward-Bound Trust. This charity aims to unlock the potential of young and often disadvantaged people through powerful, life changing outdoor experiences. In overcoming obstacles and achieving challenges they never through they could. Young people come to realise that they can achieve whatever they set out to and face the future with confidence.

Our people support the charity through mentor programmes and fundraising.

  • Building a Future for Asia (BAFFA)

Our Building a Future for Asia programme supports the construction of schools in deprived communities across Asia.

Every two years, 15 employees from our UK&I business come together to raise the funds required to travel to the county and build a school.

Over a 3-week period they live and work in the local community with the aim to build (or re-build) a ‘fit for purpose’ facility and enable the education of thousands of children.

  • Community RePaint

Dulux has been supporting Community RePaint for over 25 years. It is comprised of a network of 70 plus schemes that collect local, leftover paint that would otherwise go to waste. They redistribute this unused paint at a low cost - about £1 a litre - to charities, community groups and those in social need

  • The Old English Sheepdogs Rescue & Welfare

This amazing charity cares for Old English Sheepdogs who have been abused or abandoned. Dulux provides funding for their health and wellbeing.

  • We colour our communities

We enable our people to demonstrate the transformational power of paint in colouring the communities in which they live and work.

Staff have one volunteer day a year to work together and decorate a children’s related or community project in the community where they live or work.

  • Fundraising

We actively encourage our staff to get involved in fundraising activities. Our people get involved with a wide range of fundraising activities including fun runs, sports days and cake sales. We also sell stirrers and carrier bags through our Dulux Decorator Centres and these sales raise funds for the Outward-Bound Trust.
